The business consultancy Gesdocument, which has been growing rapidly since 2005, decided to improve its video communications system in order to provide services to companies located throughout Spain and abroad. The Scopia XT5000 solution from Avaya allows multiple connections to be established from fixed and mobile locations, both internal and external.

Faithful to its mission of offering customers the best possible standard of service, based on quality, commitment and trust, Gesdocument decided to invest in improved videoconferencing communication solutions to replace its outdated system, which no longer met the demands of its customers and partners.
Established in 1989, with sales of 7 million euros in 2014, the company faced the challenge of finding a videoconferencing solution that would allow it to make multiple connections from both fixed and mobile locations (laptops, phones etc.)
“We needed to connect all of our locations by video, replacing the existing point-to-point system between our offices in Madrid and Barcelona. When we looked into the solutions offered by Electrotel, we realized it would be possible to interconnect all of our locations using high-quality video, in addition to being able to invite customers and suppliers to meetings,” explains David Quesada Navarro, IT Manager at Gesdocument.
The company not only needed to upgrade its system but also to replicate the service across all its locations (Barcelona, Bilbao, Madrid, Valencia and Zaragoza), many of which lacked equipment. Therefore, it had to find a powerful solution that could meet the communication needs to support by its growth strategy.
Our partner Electrotel presented the Avaya Scopia XT5000 and Avaya SCOPIA Desktop/Mobile solutions for the Barcelona office, and Avaya Scopia XT4200, for the other offices.

System Capabilities

The XT5000 system (with multi-point capability) incorporates a dual 1080p/60fps resolution for live video and content, HD-quality audio, simultaneous H.264 High Profile and SVC compression, and multi-call function. It is also a multipurpose solution because it combines capabilities for meeting rooms as well as conferences of up to 9 participants, using the Scopia Desktop conference system and firewall transfer. Similarly, participants can use Avaya Scopia Mobile to join video conferences via the latest generation mobile devices.
According to Quesada: “the company has improved its networking and flexibility in meetings through the use of this videoconferencing system, which allows documents to be shared, makes meetings more dynamic, allows desktop sharing, saves time and money on travel and gives a feeling of proximity even though we are hundreds of kilometers apart, which is so necessary in our type of business.”

More Upgrades

Electrotel will shortly be installing an upgrade to the new version of the video system. With this upgrade, Gesdocument will be able to enjoy wireless presentations from a laptop, without using a VGA screen link cable.
This improvement, at no extra cost, is possible thanks to the manufacturer’s support contract that Gesdocument has signed with Electrotel, which includes upgrades and spare parts, as well as the maintenance of all equipment.
