DAUNIS ADOPTS AVAYA TECHNOLOGY AND UPGRADES ITS COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS
Daunis Llorenç i Cortada founded the company in 1855, originally as a boiler workshop. Since then it has adapted to serve the demand for products and services required by the industry, becoming a leading supplier to the industry, providing pumps, valves, pipes, pipe connections, air conditioning, air compressors etc. Now run by the fifth generation of owners, it can claim to be among the twenty oldest companies in Spain.
“Making the change did cost money at first, but our communications had shortcomings that we had to resolve no matter what. Seeking a project that would meet our needs, we tested different integrators, and finally it was Electrotel that far exceeded all tests. We chose them because of the solution presented (telephones, aerials, network electronics etc.), as well as the additional cost savings.” Lozano also highlights the simplicity of the implemented solution. “It’s incredible, we went from having a multitude of lines and numbers, which was a mess in terms of configurations, to having only three telephone lines and fiber optics for the whole company.”
With a Cost Reduction
The voice project was completed with the renovation of the data structure in all offices as well, with the Avaya RoutingSwitch PWR+ Ethernet network equipment of the 4000 series. This series of switches provides high-performance, flexible Ethernet connectivity to the cabling room and end-of-network deployments. Among the improvements in the network, Lozano highlights the segmentation of the network, separating voice and data on different networks for better quality of service.
“We had problems with network traffic, some computers were left without power because data packets were all on the same network. This summer was the first where everyone was able to work normally, without incident. In fact, in other years I would receive up to 12 calls about problems or conflicts on the network during my vacation.” In addition, VoiceNetworking machines have been connected to ensure constant continuity of service.
Daunis has also made use of the Avaya Office SupportServices (IPOSS) 8x5 NBD service, which guarantees remote support and free software updates. In short, Daunis will benefit from upgrading to the new version of IP Office 9.1 at no extra cost, thanks to this contracted service.
