Santa Clara, Calif. – Sept. 13, 2018 – Avaya Holdings Corp. (NYSE: AVYA) joins leaders in business, government and citizens from around the world at the Global Climate Action Summit held this week in San Francisco, CA to advance innovative environmental projects and to affirm Avaya’s commitment to reducing emissions and driving Global Climate Action.
Avaya is dedicated to helping customers reduce environmental impact by designing increasingly energy efficient products and providing cloud-based solutions and telecommunications to reduce hardware, power and space requirements, and decrease the need for business travel. Since 2009, Avaya has successfully met its commitments to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and reports its progress annually to CDP, formerly known as the Carbon Disclosure Project.
“We are honored to be invited to the Global Climate Action Summit to participate with leaders from around the world to identify environmental impacts and actions to reduce carbon dioxide emissions,” said Sara Broadbent, Corporate Social Responsibility Director, Avaya. “We continue to pursue innovation and build partnerships with the objective of reducing both our own and our customers’ emissions. We acknowledge the value of having a seat at the table and seek to mobilize our industry to realize the goal of mitigating climate change.”
Avaya achieved both of its goals to reduce carbon emissions based on the “3% Solution” target developed by CDP and World Wildlife Fund.1 The company exceeded its goal to reduce its Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions by 14% from 2016-2017, achieving a cumulative 40% reduction from its 2014 baseline. Avaya also reduced its Scope 3 emissions almost 20,000 mtCO2e from 2016-2017.2
The 2018 Global Climate Action Summit, hosted in San Francisco 12–14, will bring together state and local governments, business and citizens from around the world to showcase climate action taking place, thereby demonstrating how the tide has turned in the race against climate change and inspiring deeper national commitments in support of the Paris Agreement.
