Avaya Global Leadership Engages with Government of Telangana on Digital Transformation

Hyderabad, India; 2016: Avaya’s global leadership met with Telangana’s IT Minister, KT Rama Rao, in Hyderabad, India, to discuss a number of initiates in support of the state’s ambitious plan of becoming India’s leading state for technology innovation. Minister Rao presented the pillars of the ‘Digital Telangana’ initiative, a grand plan to build and deliver connectivity to more than 8.5 million households, more than 32 million people, living in rural and other parts across the Telangana state, scheduled to be completed by the end of 2018.
Avaya CEO, Kevin Kennedy, took Minister Rao through the various initiatives that Avaya has been driving in India. He explained that Avaya today is a software and services company that recruits and retains the best the best talent in the country across sales and services operations at R&D hubs in Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Pune. He said that Avaya’s Indian R&D generates 12 per cent of Avaya’s global patents annually, and today, owns the innovation cycle on some of Avaya’s strategic solutions.  Kennedy also highlighted synergies between the various initiatives that the state is currently rolling-out and Avaya’s global expertise in similar undertakings.
Nidal Abou Ltaif, Avaya International President, said: “T-HUB, a unique partnership between the Government of Telangana and the start-up ecosystem, is a particularly exciting project as it promotes entrepreneurship, creates opportunity, and fuels innovation.  Avaya has its largest R&D centers in India, one of which is in Hyderabad, and there will be immense opportunities to transfer knowledge, expertise and innovation into T-HUB to enable the creative minds of the state to innovate. Avaya’s successful acquisition and onboarding of KnoahSoft, a Hyderabad-based software company, demonstrates our intent to acquire capabilities from anywhere, particularly to help us quickly add abilities to support our solutions suite.”
Minister Rao explained to the Avaya leadership that investing in the state of Telangana cannot be matched anywhere in the world. “Our self-certification system enables any investor to self-certify quickly and easily. Recent legislation makes our bureaucrats accountable, and the strategically-located land and abundant human resources offer investors skilled resources from Telangana that are unique to India and the world.”
Mr. Kennedy expressed Avaya’s admiration of the coherence and aggressiveness of the policies in Telangana.
