President and Chief Executive Officer
Jim Chirico is President and Chief Executive Officer of Avaya, Inc., which enables the mission critical, real-time communication applications of the world’s most important operations. He assumed his new role on October 1, 2017, after previously serving as Chief Operating Officer and Global Sales Leader.
Jim brings depth of experience and consistent results as a business and operational leader in the technology industry, successfully leading teams in sales, worldwide operations, manufacturing and development. Since joining Avaya in 2008, he has been instrumental in the development of the company’s industry-leading business model, including record EBITDA performance, gross margin expansion and best-in-class Net Promoter Score.
In his previous role as COO, Jim was responsible for Global Sales, Global Operations, Human Resources and Quality. Jim optimized Avaya’s global business processes, stabilized sales and has led the company’s effort for Chapter 11 Emergence. In addition, he drove cross-functional alignment of key initiatives, including integration of all acquisitions and enterprise restructuring efforts.
Jim joined Avaya in January 2008 from Seagate Technology, where he was Executive Vice President, Global Operations, Development and Manufacturing. At Seagate, he led a team of more than 50,000 employees located in 14 facilities worldwide, successfully driving step-function change in the operational effectiveness of the organization.
Jim began his career at IBM in 1980, progressing through line leadership and corporate assignment positions to become a Site General Manager and WW Manufacturing Leader. He received a B.S. in Marketing from Providence College in Rhode Island.Download Jim Chirico Photo >
President, Avaya International
Nidal Abou-Ltaif is President for Avaya International, where he is responsible for a combined operational region that covers Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and the Asia-Pacific. Under his leadership, the Avaya International region has become a model for excellence in execution, achieving record customer satisfaction measures.
Nidal joined Avaya in 2003 as the sales leader for the Middle East. Nidal has a proven record of success at Avaya, maintaining business continuity when the company acquired Nortel, and successfully integrating operations in the Middle East, Africa and Turkey. In 2014, he was tasked with leading Avaya’s Global Growth Markets and promoted in 2015 to head the Asia-Pacific, Middle East & Africa (AMEA) operation, subsequently adding responsibility for Europe to his remit.

James J. Geary
General Manager, Americas Sales & Services
Jim Geary is General Manager for Avaya’s Americas Sales and Services. In this role, Jim oversees sales, services, and consulting resources, supporting Avaya’s customers and partners throughout the United States, Latin America and Canada. He also has responsibility for the partner channel overseeing this key strategic area of the company’s go to market strategy. He is based in New York City.
Prior to his current role, Jim was Vice President, East Sales, for Avaya, consistently delivering on commitments throughout his four years leading the U.S. East team.
Before joining Avaya, Jim was Group Vice President for Verizon Enterprise Services with national responsibility for the Small and Medium Enterprise segment. Prior to that role Jim had responsibility for MCI’s Global and Corporate accounts leading the Northeast Region. Primarily working with Fortune 500 companies, he successfully built new go to market initiatives and reorganized territories to drive large account growth. Jim is known for his change management leadership capabilities, successfully transitioning organizations through mergers, acquisitions and new strategic directions.

Senior Vice President, Operations
Jerry Glembocki is Senior Vice President, Operations, for Avaya, a global provider of business collaboration and communications solutions. In this role, Jerry is responsible for Quality, Material Logistics Planning (MLP), Supply Chain, Quote to Order, and IT.
Previously at Avaya, Jerry served as senior vice president of the Avaya Services organization and the Quality Program for Avaya, a role that saw him dually responsible for the delivery of worldwide services and the driving of enterprise-wide initiatives and programs to systematically ensure product and service quality and drive current state improvements.
Glembocki joined Avaya in November 2011 from Solexant, a startup in the solar panel industry, where he served as Chief Operating Officer and Senior VP of Engineering. While there, he put some of the key systems in place to allow Solexant to achieve manufacturing scale. Some of his accomplishments at Solexant include: initiating a reliability program, improving yields and initiating a system for product transfer from R&D into pilot production.
Prior to Solexant, Glembocki was Senior VP of Recording Heads & Disks at Seagate Technology. He advanced Seagate's core technology and positioned Seagate as a clear technology leader in hard drives. Senior Vice President, Corporate Strategy, Development and Marketing
Nikos Nikolopoulos is Senior Vice President, Corporate Strategy, Development and Marketing. His responsibilities also include mergers and acquisitions and corporate marketing.
He joins Avaya from Mednax, Inc., a healthcare company where he served as head of business transformation and chief M&A counsel. He previously worked for Avaya as chief restructuring officer from 2013-2015.
Nikos brings more than 25 years’ experience in corporate strategy, business operations, turnarounds, commercial transactions, and mergers and acquisitions, primarily in the telecom and communications sectors. His career includes executive roles at AT&T and Tyco as well as at two start-ups in Europe. He also has experience outside the communications sector, serving as head of strategy and corporate development for Office Depot, Inc.
Nikos started his career working for the European Commission on telecom matters in Brussels and has lived and worked in six different countries during his career. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of New Hampshire and a Juris Doctorate in Law from the Chicago Kent College of Law.

Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Patrick O’Malley is Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. He is responsible for financial governance and management of Avaya's financial operations, including overall responsibility for the Controller’s organization, financial planning, Treasury, Tax and investor relations.
Pat joined Avaya following a 30-year career with Seagate Technology, where he served in a variety of roles, including as CFO from 2008 to 2015. During his career at Seagate, he played an integral role in helping the company with its re-listing on the NASDAQ after two years of private ownership, and with the restructuring of its debt following the 2008 financial crisis.
Prior to that, he was Senior Vice President Finance and Treasurer, and also served as Senior Vice President, Consumer Electronics Business Development, and Senior Vice President of Finance for Manufacturing Operations.
Prior to joining Seagate, Pat spent four years as a Senior Staff Accountant for Arthur Young & Co.

Senior Vice President and General Manager of Solutions & Technology
Laurent Philonenko is Senior Vice President and General Manager of Solutions & Technology. In this role, he is responsible for the research, development, engineering, and marketing of Avaya’s technology, innovations and services portfolio across both contact center and unified communications.
As part of his focus on the development of Avaya’s solutions, Laurent has oversight of strategic alliances and technology partnerships. This includes the Avaya DevConnect developer program and the recently launched AI Connect partner program. AI Connect is dedicated to supporting and promoting the interoperability and value of artificial intelligence and machine learning within enterprise communications.
Previously, Laurent was Avaya’s SVP of Corporate Strategy & Development and Chief Technology Officer from November 2014 to October 2017.
Laurent is a recognized leader and proven visionary in the enterprise collaboration and communications space. Prior to joining Avaya, he served successively as Vice-President and General Manager of several business units and as Chief Technology Officer for Cisco’s Collaboration Technology Group. Before joining Cisco, he was President and CEO for Genesys Telecommunications. In his tenure at Genesys, he also held the roles of Chief Technical Officer and Chief Operations Officer.
Laurent is a graduate of Ecole Polytechnique in Paris and earned a master’s degree in Management Science from Paris University. He holds nine U.S. patents. In his spare time, Laurent is an avid sportsman who enjoys running and biking. His other hobbies include practicing his culinary skills, flying airplanes and reading on a variety of topics.

Senior Vice President and General Manager, Cloud
Mercer Rowe is Senior Vice President and General Manager, Cloud, leading a business focused solely on Avaya’s cloud products and services, including R&D and sales.
Mercer joined Avaya from IBM, where he was Vice President, Strategic Partners, for the IBM Cloud and Watson Platform, leading global cloud and artificial intelligence initiatives. Before joining IBM, Mercer founded and served as CEO of VMware vCloud Service, a joint-venture with SoftBank to deliver Cloud services in Japan. He also incubated VMware’s own cloud service business, and spent a decade with cloud-powered start-ups in the enterprise software and service provider spaces, building sales, channel and services organizations. He began his career in engineering roles with Lockheed Martin and Nortel Networks.

Senior Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel
Shefali Shah is Senior Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel. She is responsible for Avaya’s worldwide law department and global human resources organization.
Shefali joined Avaya from Era Group, one of the largest helicopter operators in the world, where she served as SVP, general counsel, and corporate secretary. She facilitated Era’s transition to an independent public company and managed its legal, human resources benefits and corporate communications functions.
Previously, Ms. Shah held several senior management roles, including senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary, with Comverse Technology, Inc., which developed and marketed telecommunications software. She began her legal career as a corporate associate for each of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP and Hutchins, Wheeler & Dittmar, P.C.
