Pride Month at Avaya
As we wrap up Pride month, we take time to reflect on the history of the LGBTQIA+ movement and the important and engaging content we’ve produced throughout this month.
Pride began in the United States to commemorate the anniversary of the Stonewall riots, which occurred in New York City in June 1969. Every year since Pride, events are held throughout June to recognize the impact of that event 53 years ago and the impact LGBTQIA+ people have had in the world.
This year’s Pride theme, “Love Your Pride,” focused on belonging. The Avaya Pride Network and our partner ConvergeOne hosted a live panel on the Importance of Belonging and Power of Acceptance to kick off the month that included Avaya and ConvergeOne employees, PFLAG (Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays).
Also, this month, Avaya was a sponsor of the Broomfield Pride Party in the Park hosted by PFLAG. This event supported the LGBTQIA+ community by bringing together queer organizations for information and resources, fun games, and food trucks to promote inclusion and education. We handed out our Love Your Pride t-shirts and water to attendees, which were appreciated in the summer heat.
While Pride comes to close for 2022, the Avaya Pride Network will be hard at work to grow our partnership with PFLAG and to promote the importance of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging in the workplace with our Avaya ERG partners.
