Digital Transformation Across Industries: Healthcare, Hospitality and Public Safety – Part 1 of 3

According to IDG, 62% of businesses believe digital transformation success is defined by excellent customer experience as measured by customer satisfaction scores. Yet the industry in which a company operates significantly affects the quality of this overall experience. To deliver experiences that matter, companies must tailor transformation to meet vertical-specific processes and needs.

Evolution of Healthcare Patient Care Experience Through AI and IoT

Artificial intelligence, IoT, cloud, data analytics and mobility remain top transformation trends in healthcare. Through 2019, we’ll see the intelligent integration of these components as part of a next-gen platform that centralizes communications to drive more efficient provider and patient outcomes.

Centralized communications represent the future of healthcare technology, improving care team coordination, patient scheduling, access to care, time-to-service and revenue cycle management. Centralized communications very tightly integrated with Electronic Health Records (EHR) can provide a holistic digital platform that, when layered with advanced technologies like AI and IoT, transforms healthcare system performance and patient experience.

Health systems will increasingly rely on centralized communications to digitally transform and improve. We’ll see the improvement of medical record portability through the adoption of smart mobile devices, assisted by AI and IoT platforms. Remote diagnostics accuracy leveraging smart devices and IoT will continue to improve as we fully leverage AI analytics capabilities. Secured medical record portability will enable patients to more easily schedule or re-schedule appointments and transfer care between clinics and devices, with caregivers having ready access to their records, preferences, needs and history.

Centralized communications will also be critical for virtual care, which research shows helps control costs, enhance quality of delivery and improve access to care. Gartner, for example, predicts that by 2023, U.S. emergency department visits will be reduced by 20 million due to enrollment of chronically ill patients in AI-enhanced virtual care. This translates into major cost savings, with research estimating that 71 cents of every U.S. dollar spent on healthcare goes to treating people with chronic conditions.

Patient access and services will continue to evolve from live voice interactions to leveraging digital services, and care teams will be more exposed to real-time digital content that helps them better assist patients. Virtual care is gaining a lot of momentum and will see stronger adoption over the next 12 to 24 months as organizations complete their digital record implementations.

Avaya will be demonstrating its comprehensive portfolio of solutions purpose-built for the healthcare industry at the upcoming HIMSS 2019 event held in Orlando, FL from February 11-15.  The HIMSS Global Conference & Exhibitionbrings together over 45,000 health information and technology professionals, clinicians, executives and market suppliers from around the world.  We will be featured in booth #6541 at the Orange County Convention Center, exhibiting in conjunction with our closely aligned, strategic partner, ConvergeOne.
