Avaya and the International Avaya Users Group Support Charity Organization Kids in a New Groove at Avaya ENGAGE 2019

At Avaya, we believe it is our responsibility to make the world a better place and we align with our employees, communities, customers, partners, and suppliers to make that a reality. This week we held our annual ENGAGE event in Austin, Texas, for the world’s largest community of contact center and unified communications users, and incorporated a unique and inspiring charitable program as part of the event experience. Avaya and the International Avaya Users Group (IAUG), the two sponsors of ENGAGE 2019, today announced a donation of $15,000 for the organization Kids in a New Groove  – the official charity for ENGAGE 2019.

Kids in a New Groove is an Austin-based, non-profit organization that helps build a solid foundation for youth in the Austin foster care system through one-on-one music mentorship with free, weekly music instruction as well as performance opportunities. 

“Kids in a New Groove focuses on changing the lives of children in foster care, one music lesson at a time,” said Laura Woods, Executive Director, Kids in a New Groove. “We’re thankful to Avaya and IAUG for making us the official charity for the event and encourage all the attendees to show their support for Kids in a New Groove by welcoming us to perform, connecting with other conference attendees and tweeting often during the conference.”

Kids in a New Groove performed at the ENGAGE opening night kick-off party, providing great entertainment for thousands of attendees. And we also included a social media tie-in, with Avaya’s donation including $1 to the charity for every #AvayaENGAGE tweet during the conference.

Additionally, IAUG encouraged attendees to connect with others, including partners and exhibitors, throughout the conference using their Avaya ENGAGE smart badge. Whenever attendees “klik” to connect with their badge, IAUG donated to Kids in a New Groove, reaching a total of $5,000.

“The tradition of aligning with a local charitable organization at each year’s ENGAGE user conference is truly one of the special highlights of each event,” said Marilyn Shuck, President of IAUG. “This is true not only for us as co-sponsors, but for all of the customers, partners and industry influencers who attend ENGAGE. We get great response from all of them and they value the opportunity to collectively make a difference in people’s lives.”

Avaya is extremely proud to support such a great organization such as Kids in a New Groove. These are an outstanding group of children, and we couldn’t be more pleased to have the organization as the official charity of our annual event. And we thank them for adding their experience to the Experiences that Matter that Avaya shared this week at ENGAGE.
