Avaya Tees Off at Baltusrol Golf Club to Support Charity Month of Giving

The first annual Avaya Charity Golf Tournament is heading to the fairway on August 20, 2018. Golf pros, amateurs, caddies, and tournament sponsors will gather to tee off in what should be a fun and challenging exhibition of people coming together for a common goal. We will be Driving for Good with net proceeds supporting our Corporate Responsibility vision around the world through the Avaya Month of Giving Program. This year, we are proud to highlight Save The Children, where every child deserves a future and its Girls’ Educational Programming, where every girl deserves a chance to learn. The sold-out golf tournament will raise over $75,000 for the Month of Giving program.

The Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield Township, New Jersey, will be host to the inaugural tournament, where over 100 golfers will compete in the fundraiser with fun tournament prizes for participants like the longest drive and closest to the pin.

Setting the scene, golf legend Jack Nicklaus touted Baltusrol as one if his favorite courses and one of the finest in the world. The private 36-hole golf club stretches across 474 acres and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005 and as National Historic Landmark in 2014 as an homage to the course designer A. W. Tillinghast.

Baltusrol has enjoyed a long history in golf and has played a prominent role on the national golf stage for 120 years. Serving as a Dual Course facility, Upper and Lower, in 1919 Golf Illustrated declared that “what they are planning at Baltusrol is on a vaster scale than anything that has ever been attempted in American Golf for the opening of the Dual Courses.”

And in golf, even the tiniest sound, breeze, or bead of communication is critical to the overall success of the player. At Baltusrol Golf Club, Avaya’s technology has helped modernize their operations. With the Avaya IP Office™ Platform they have a next-generation communication and collaboration system to match their championship caliber conditions. “We are very excited to partner with Avaya not only as a customer, but in helping them give back to the community,” said Brian Baldwin, Assistant General Manager, Baltusrol Golf Club. “Avaya’s technology has helped modernized our operations, bringing us into a new generation of delighting our customers and improving our operational efficiency. We’re thrilled to host to their inaugural Avaya Charity Golf Tournament.”

The tournament kicks off with a shotgun start at 11 am and runs until all 18 holes have been played across the Upper Course. In addition to support from employees, team members, and leadership, we will also see Avaya partners, vendors, suppliers, and community members coming together as one. Cheer on our golfers and show your support as #AvayaSports drives for good!
