When Microsoft Drops Support, It’s Avaya to the Rescue!

Microsoft recently announced that as of July 2018, they will no longer support the use of Session Border Controllers (SBC) to connect third-party PBX systems to Exchange Online Unified Messaging. What does that mean? Well, in a nutshell, it means that customers subscribing to Office 365 for email and unified messaging have lost their direct SBC connection option. This change will permanently eliminate the customer’s unified messaging capabilities unless the entire solution moves to Skype for Business under Microsoft’s calling plans or the customer adopts an API-based integration solution.

For customers not interested in moving their communication system to Skype for Business, Avaya offers one of the best API-based integration solutions available in the market today. Avaya Officelinx provides easy integration without making any changes to your existing environment. Officelinx can be added to any Avaya or non-Avaya system and provides seamless integration with MS Office 365 for Unified Messaging with its direct API integration to the full Office 365 cloud suite.

Officelinx has some great features that help keep your business moving, even when you can’t pick up. It starts with the traditional unified messaging inbox, integrated with all common email platforms, that makes voicemail and faxes easily accessible from the users standard email inbox, streamlining message treatment from a single location. But Officelinx adds much more. For example, it provides:

  • Integrated Auto-Attendant, Interactive Voice Response (IVR), speech recognition, and call tree functionality that enable incoming calls to be efficiently routed to the right recipients without human intervention. Functionality can be updated automatically based on a user’s calendar events, location, and current availability.
  • Bi-directional synchronization that ensures the act of reading/listening to a message is reflected both in the email platform and on a user’s phone (via the message waiting indicator), so users can move on quickly to their next tasks.
  • Mass Event Notification (for when you need to get the word out fast to a large number of users) notifies specific groups via email, text message, pager, or from a landline.

Avaya Officelinx is a flexible platform that will fit into virtually any existing environment, making your migration path easy to implement. So, if Microsoft has you feeling left out in the cold, talk to your Avaya or partner sales rep today. We’ll be happy to discuss how Officelinx can meet the challenges of your business.
