Saving the Planet, One Video Call at a Time
Happy Earth Day!
In honor of April 22’s Earth Day, I chatted with Sara Broadbent, Avaya’s corporate social responsibility director. And what did I learn?
From 2011 to 2013, in large part due to increasing the use of our own telecommunications technologies, Avaya reduced its total CO2 emissions by 46 percent, total miles traveled by 44 percent and total travel costs by 48 percent.
That’s right. Our company’s total travel costs were nearly cut in half over a span of just two years–and implementation of Avaya’s communications solutions, such as Avaya Scopia®, played a large role.
Going green is good for business.
“With such vast reductions in our CO2 emissions, we are able to show that enhancing environmental responsibility, reducing the carbon footprint and minimizing operating costs are not mutually-exclusive goals,” Broadbent said. “We are continually investing in technologies and business practices that improve communication efficiency and environmental sustainability–for ourselves and for our valued customers.”
Avaya reduced its CO2 emissions by more than 8,000 metric tons and reduced its travel miles by more than 44 million from 2011 to 2013. But… what does that mean?
