Roll Out the Red Carpet! The Product Innovation Award Goes to… Avaya Stadium

With the winners just announced... Avaya Stadium becomes a proud member of the ‘sweet 16’ of prestigious recipients of TheStadiumBusiness Awards 2015. Bringing together the global stadium, arena and major sports venue industry, TheStadiumBusiness Summit is the largest dedicated meeting for operators, developers, owners and leaders in this global playing field. The 2015 Summit, held in Barcelona, Spain, is the 6th edition of the annual event focused on major sports facilities and covers a host of topics and events throughout the event. 
 
Avaya Stadium was honored with the Product Innovation Award, granted for “a product or service that has uniquely transformed and improved the way stadiums, arenas, and sports venues do business”. Avaya Stadium was selected by a panel of stadium industry experts to receive the award for being the first cloud-enabled stadium in Major League Soccer, home to the San Jose Earthquakes soccer club. The prestigious award was jointly collected by Peter Thompson, MD Sponsorships for Avaya (@44Petert) and Jed Mettee, VP Marketing for the Quakes.

The Awards gala was hosted outdoors at the awe-inspiring Futbol Club Barcelona, overlooking the Camp Nou pitch, and honored other industry leaders with prestigious awards such as: Sports Event of the Year, Sustainability Award, Premium Seat Award, and Fan Experience Award. Avaya Stadium was also nominated for Venue of the Year, but that accolade went to our Silicon Valley neighbor, Levi’s Stadium home of the San Francisco 49ers. In addition to the culmination of the Awards gala, event attendees participated in conference tracks targeted specific areas of focus in stadium management including; optimizing operations and revenue, scaling marketing and the fan experience, enhancing sports hospitality, VIP and premium seating, to more technology-focused sessions covering digital integrations with WiFi, digital, apps, data etc. All the while, event attendees can network with other sports professionals, experience interactive demonstrations for in-stadium content, and learn from leading suppliers and new innovators. 
 
Joe Manuele (@jmanuele), Vice President of Global Cloud Services at Avaya celebrated that being the recipient of the Product Innovation Award was of course exciting and an honor, and noted “Avaya embarked on this journey with the Earthquakes one year ago to create new ways for fans to experience events through technology. Avaya Stadium’s cloud-enabled facility provides Avaya and the Quakes a platform where software and applications run in the cloud and can easily be deployed for enhanced team and customer engagement. As the San Jose Earthquakes season marches on, Avaya Stadium continues to build and integrate 21st century technologies into the overall stadium experience to continue to raise the bar on what it means to be fan engagement specialists.
