Avaya (NYSE:AV) today announced it has named Micky Tsui to lead and coordinate its company-wide efforts in data and voice convergence. Tsui becomes vice president, Converged Communications Products, and will focus primarily on customers' fast-growing needs for convergence and IP Telephony products, such as the Avaya IP600 Internet Protocol Communications Server. The IP600, announced in September, became generally available to customers on November 27.
In addition, Tsui will chair a new company-wide IP Convergence Council whose mission will be to accelerate the company's growth in this fast-growing market space, and he will serve on Avaya's Executive Council.

Previously, Tsui was vice president of Product Management, IP Telephony, at Nortel Networks, where he was a member of the executive leadership team. Over the past 16 years, he held various positions at Nortel Networks, including developing Nortel's enterprise VoIP strategy with the combined Bay Networks and Nortel enterprise data group; focusing on Internet access products, partnerships, and acquisitions; managing Unified Messaging product development; and leading the Meridian 1 PBX market launch. From 1979 to 1983 Tsui was a software development manager at Bell Northern Research.
Ave Elliott remains vice president, Enterprise Communication Products, and will focus primarily on customers' evolving needs for both traditional and emerging communications products, including DEFINITY® communications servers, MERLIN MAGIX¢ Integrated System, PARTNER® Advanced Communications System, INDeX, Network Alchemy and the R300 Remote Office Communicator.
