Presence is a key unified communications capability that helps improve productivity and accelerate work flow. Dialing a colleague only to find that they are already on a call may be both annoying and frustrating and a complete waste of time. The 9600 Series phones can provide the current availability of your colleagues at a glance.As you can see here, Matt is currently on a call, and Gene is unavailable and not logged in. So, if I was calling one of those people, I would know not to waste my time, or ensure that I was prepared to leave a message. If you call someone regularly, you can assign a contact with Presence information to a button on your phone screen. And that Presence information will always be available at a glance. The 9600 software, makes it easy to customize the appearance and functionality of the phone to better suit your needs. Here’s an example of how to customize the phone, where I’m going to add a feature that I use all the time. [PRESSING BUTTONS]And as you can see, now, on the main screen of the phone I have a call pickup function that I previously assigned. Some verticals, such as hotels, want to completely customize the phone screen by adding background image and custom icons, such as a link to the concierge or other hotel functions.
