Regional businesses driving digital transformation with wireless networks: Avaya

Avaya sees triple digit growth in business transformation-ready wireless infrastructure

Dublin, Ireland 2016:  Avaya, a leading global provider of business communications software, systems and services, is steering an enterprise-wide transformation towards broader adoption of wireless networking within governments and enterprise businesses across Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa. Traditionally seen as an end-point connectivity option with limited broader application, wireless networking has seen a surge in demand particularly in light of emerging regional trends and demands such as mobility, bring your own device (BYOD), the Internet of Things, and more.

At this week’s annual Avaya Technology Forum event in Dublin, the company announced that in the last six-months, it has seen triple digit increase in its wireless networking business across Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa, driven by enterprise customers looking to build secure environments capable of quickly supporting applications and expansion. Bandwidth hunger among typical devices on today’s enterprise wireless networks, such as for video and real-time collaboration, can affect the user experience, and today’s fast-paced enterprises are bucking the wired trend in favour of wireless local area networks.

The core advantages of a well-designed wireless networking solution include control over applications used on the network, simpler deployment, software programmability, increased security, higher reliability, and even unified BYOD and guest access.

The Dublin Avaya Technology Forum, attended by over 600 European CIOs, underscored the company’s leadership in networking, with over 75 engineers trying unsuccessfully to break into its stealthSDN Fx network. It also saw the company unveil its concept of Smart Digital Transformation-as-a-Service and outline its transition to a software and services company.

Speaking at the close of the Avaya Technology Forum, Jean Turgeon, VP and Chief Technologist, Software Defined Architecture, Avaya, said:

“Wireless LANs have become increasingly relevant to enterprises. Our triple digit growth across a broad geography shows that the adoption curve is now at a mature level. This was reflected in the level of interest in our wireless networking solutions from European CIOs attending this week’s Avaya Technology Forum. In our Smart Cities showcase we demonstrated how our networking technology combined with our suite of cloud-based solutions and professional services is helping organisations of all types achieve digital transformation objectives, manage operations more cost-effectively, and deploy new technologies more easily in an “as-a-service” model.”
