Introduction:
Avaya Mobile Communications is a quickly
deployable system designed to provide communications for emergency
response and disaster recovery efforts.
Overview:
To recover from a disruption, Avaya provides
flexible, fully-configured mobile communications that can be set up
in minutes, virtually anywhere, for emergency response, temporary
operations, and more. A mobile communications continuity system
must:
Get close to the center of the event or incident and support a
wide range of communications: landline, data, cellular,
satellite, radio, WiFi, web, and more. Perform well locally and in situations involving widespread
impact of communications and energy infrastructures. Adapt to meet the communications needs of a wide range of
personnel, including first responders, medical,
response/recovery agencies, civic leaders, and key enterprises
(insurance, financial services, construction, etc.). Address the period of preparation before an episode occurs and
the ongoing rebuilding efforts—not just the communications required
in the immediate aftermath of an incident. Avaya Mobile Communications specifically support
emergency response, disaster recovery, and command center
operations for governments, response organizations, and businesses.
This highly mobile, full-featured system can be quickly deployed to
provide communications wherever needed at a moment's
notice. The system can be installed in a truck, trailer, SUV,
or emergency vehicle. It connects with traditional
telephony, IP, or even satellite connections.
The system is available with either Avaya Communication Manager
or with Avaya Quick Edition to serve the needs
of both first responders and the private sector. Communication Manager offers full enterprise functionality,
built-in encryption and optional VPN tunneling for secure
integration into corporate or government networks. The system
consists of a G350 Media Gateway and an S8300 Media Server
supported by an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS). The PoE
Ethernet switching module supports IP telephones and PC
connections, while digital/analog trunking is provided for
telephony network connections. The system can also connect
over satellite links when connected to a satellite service
provider. Avaya Quick Edition provides a quickly deployable solution where
ease of deployment is the highest priority. The self contained
architecture of the Quick Edition eliminates the need for a
media server or gateway, so all that is needed are the phones,
network adapters, and a PoE switch. Any organization that needs to provide communications regardless
of network availability should consider integrating Avaya Mobile
Communications into their overall emergency response or disaster
recovery plans. Avaya offers business continuity consulting
specifically focused on helping businesses integrate the system
into current continuity plans, or to help them define or refine
plans. Additionally, as many companies will keep the system
stored in a safe place, but not constantly powered up or connected
to their network, Avaya can provide a periodic health check to
ensure the system is in working order.
