Avaya Inc. (NYSE:AV), a leading global provider of communications networks and services for businesses, is responding to strong interest from the campus networking customers in Korea. It recently provided networking solutions to more than 20 universities, including Kangwon National University, Jangan University, Inha Technical College and Gimcheon College, allowing faster network access and easy network management for over 24,000 students. In the past six months, Avaya Korea has provided networking solutions to more than 10 public agencies and campuses.

Avaya networking solutions employed by those universities will help them operate networks in a more efficient way, enabling them to address increasing data traffic. With the introduction of Avaya networking products, instructors and students are able to get more information faster, increase use of the Intranet, and enhance productivity through faster work processing and communication.

Recently, Avaya forged a contract with Kangwon National University to provide its networking solutions. Avaya's networking solutions will help the university manage a large amount of data traffic while providing reliable network performance. Avaya's solutions for Kangwon National University network expansion project include the Avaya™ P882 and P333R-LB Stackable Switch.

"It was inevitable to expand and upgrade our network as the data traffic was increasing significantly. In the tests of switches from several vendors, Avaya showcased superior performance and reliability," said Chul Hong, IT manager of Kangwon National University. "Based on the test results, we expected that Avaya would enable us to rely on reliable networks to handle increasing traffic.

Also Avaya won a contract to upgrade Jangan University's networks. Jangan University decided to replace existing network switches with Avaya switches to manage increasing data traffic. The university expects to easily migrate to 10 gigabit Ethernet in an attempt to accommodate continuously increasing data traffic on the university's network. Avaya will provide P882 gigabit backbone and workgroup switches for the university.

Avaya also won the network expansion project of Gimcheon College. By deploying Avaya solutions on existing networks, the college was able to enhance the effectiveness and reliability of the network. For this project, Avaya provided the college with Avaya P580 Multiservice Switch, Avaya P333R-LB Stackable Switch and Avaya P333T Stackable Switch. Also, recently Inha Technical College additionally introduced Avaya networking solutions to upgrade its network to boost performance. Avaya P882 and Avaya P580 switches enabled enhancement of network efficiency.

Avaya also recently won network projects for Jaeneung College, Kyonggi University and Gyeongju University, further strengthening Avaya's foothold in the campus networking market.

"Based on successive employment of Avaya solutions by public agencies and universities, we are convinced that Avaya's networking solutions have earned a good reputation in the local market for reliability, flexibility and investment protection," said Soo Man Byun, sales manager of Avaya Korea. "Avaya will continue to work closely with customers to satisfy their needs such as handling increased traffic, providing students and faculty with more efficient service and applications."
