Avaya Adds Mall of Qatar to Retail & Hospitality Customers

08 Mar 2015
Dubai, UAE – Avaya has announced a mega deal with the Mall of Qatar to build and support the mall’s end-to-end technology. The project includes designing, building and supporting the mall’s next generation network infrastructure, high definition wireless indoor and outdoor connectivity, as well as the mall’s CCTV network, to deliver the smartest and most secure retailing and shopping experience in the region. The project will also enable Mall of Qatar to effortlessly innovate and provision new services to its tenants and visitors in the future.

Avaya is transforming the hospitality and events sectors across the region, by building networks aiming enabling the effortless transformation of the sector. Some of the leading exhibition centers in the region and global hospitality brands are working with the company to transform their customer experience through a number of strategic investments in their technology.

Recently, Avaya rolled out its Fabric Connect network into the Dubai World Trade Center, transforming the ability of the largest exhibition provider in the region to effortlessly provision connectivity services to its customers with highest reliability and security. Kempinski Mall of the Emirates also announced earlier this year that it is transforming its network infrastructure to Avaya Fabric Connect, to enable the hotel transform the guest experience and deliver a number of smart services, making the hotel the smartest in the region.

Mohammed Areff, Managing Director, Avaya GCC, Levant, Iraq and Pakistan, said: “The region’s hospitality sector is going through a phenomenal transformation, rebuilding its core technology to more advanced platform, and enabling the sector to deliver smart wired and wireless connectivity services to an always-connected customer. What Avaya has today is the foundation for ‘smart anything’. With a core network that enables the fast transformation of visitors and the overall guest experience, change comes faster and adds to the region’s ability to attract the international tourist, exhibitor and visitor.”

Avaya won the Mall of Qatar infrastructure RFP, in cooperation with Libatel, an Avaya Platinum partner in Qatar. The company said that system integrators and technology providers in Qatar also have a choice to work with different vendors in order to build diversity and outcomes-based projects into their customers’ environments.

Mall of Qatar will be the first in the region to commercially deploy smart retailing services such as Digital Signage, and omni-channel retailing in the first phase of the project. In the future, the mall’s technology infrastructure will enable it to effortlessly introduce new smart services to its tenants and visitors such as crowd management, to enhance the retailing experience while building exciting new business opportunities.
