  • 'Server Edition' system connects 34 branches and brings rich collaboration features
  • System provides ease of management and high reliability
  • Company can expand the platform easily to accommodate future growth
Beijing, China – Avaya, a global provider of business communications and collaboration systems and services, announced that Goodbaby, China's top manufacturer and retailer of childcare products, has deployed Avaya IP Office Server Edition to support its business expansion and enhance collaboration among employees.
Established in 1989, Goodbaby has become China's largest provider of infant and children’s products such as strollers, car seats, and safety devices.  The company is headquartered in Kunshan, Jiangsu Province, and has nearly 20,000 employees and 40 branch offices worldwide, including 34 within China. Goodbaby moved to a new headquarters building this year, and wanted to take this opportunity to upgrade its whole communications platform.
Goodbaby finally selected Avaya IP Office Server Edition, a solution tailored for growing and mid-sized companies. Avaya IP Office Server Edition was deployed in major branches such as Shanghai, Beijing, Chengdu and Guangzhou, while other smaller branches are connected to the system with Avaya IP Telephones. The whole system can be managed centrally at the company's headquarters, and provides consistent and rich communications capabilities across the branches.
Management of the communications system used to be a big challenge at Goodbaby as its legacy systems contained different brands and many branches operated in an isolated manner. Now with Avaya IP Office Server Edition, the administrator can manage the whole system at the headquarters and know at a glance of any potential issues that could affect system performance such as over utilized trunk lines, voices ports, and bandwidth.
In case there is a system outrage in one location, the IP Phones at that site simply re-register to an alternate location. This provides high reliability to the whole system. And as the need arises, Goodbaby can add IP Office Server Edition systems to more branches to accommodate its business expansion.
Avaya IP Office Server Edition is based on Linux servers and each server can support up to 128 party meet-me conference calls, with rich features such as call recording and call control.  “Conference Room” can even automatically dial users and add them if available.
In addition, Avaya one-X Mobile provides rich collaboration features to individual users including tap to call, tap to conference, visual voice mail, and central directory access.  This has further enhanced collaboration efficiency among Goodbaby staff.  The company also plans to integrate Avaya IP Office Server Edition with Avaya video conferencing system in the future to bring collaboration to a new level.
"The Avaya IP Office Server Edition is an ideal solution for us because of its ease of management, reliability, and flexibility in deployment.  We are able to benefit from leading communications capabilities without heavy initial capital investment, and can expand the system at our own pace."
-- Liu Tongyou, Vice President, Goodbaby
"Avaya IP Office has been very successful in the SME market, and the Server Edition brings even more communications capabilities to mid-size enterprises and growing companies. Goodbaby is a good example of how Avaya can meet the collation needs of companies in a large country such as China, with great TCO and an acute attention to their future demands.”
