University of the Sciences Adopts Next-Generation Avaya Network to Meet Increased Demands

Santa Clara, CA -- Avaya, a global provider of business communications and collaboration systems and services, today announced that University of the Sciences has adopted a next-generation Avaya network to meet the growing needs of 4,000 students, faculty and administrators.
 
The new network solves what had become a critical issue for the Philadelphia-based institution.  The information technology infrastructure serving its campus was aging at the very time demand was on the rise, creating bottlenecks that impacted performance.
 
The university needed the capacity, speed and continuous availability to support a variety of applications critical to its mission – from telephony and classroom management software, to online and distance learning.  It also needed a way manage the bandwidth demands presented by a proliferation of tablet PCs, laptops and the other mobile devices brought to campus by students. 
 
A new Avaya infrastructure provides the capacity and reliable operation the university needs, with a distributed design that eliminates any single point-of-failure. A pair of Avaya Virtual Services Platform 9000 Series Core Switches anchors the network, although they are physically separated to ensure uninterrupted service in the event that a fire or some other calamity impacts a network operations center.  Avaya Ethernet Routing Switches 5000 Series products at the network edge feature special load-balancing and failover capabilities that increase both capacity and availability. 
 
The Avaya solution for University of the Sciences was designed and sold by CSDNET, an Avaya Connect Channel Partner.
