Westcon Group Further Enhances Avaya Portfolio with Scopia Video Conferencing

09 Jan 2013
Tarrytown NY – Westcon Group today announced an expanded agreement in North America to now include Radvision Scopia video conferencing solutions and services.  Westcon is a value-added distributor of category-leading unified communications, network infrastructure, data center, and security solutions with a global network of specialty resellers.
Radvision, an Avaya Company, is a pioneer and industry leader in interactive voice and video over IP technologies.  Its Scopia portfolio of enterprise-grade unified communications products delivers high-quality solutions and across-the-board connectivity – from desktops to mobile over 3G, 4G and Wi-Fi networks.  The Scopia portfolio includes end-to-end video conferencing solutions from fully immersive telepresence to room-based, desktop and mobile video conferencing as well as video infrastructure, management tools, and developer solutions.
"Westcon has been helping partners create new revenue opportunities leveraging unified communications from leaders like Avaya for more than 20 years,” said Steve Bernard, Vice President of North America, Westcon Group.  "Today's announcement is a natural extension of a long and dedicated relationship with Avaya.  The agreement will help more customers throughout North America realize the dramatic savings gained by integrated voice, video, and data technology – all backed by the power of Scopia video conferencing."
Among the new solutions being offered by Westcon are Scopia Mobile and Scopia Desktop. Scopia Mobile -- available for both iOS and Android devices -- enables HD video conferencing, data collaboration with review capabilities, conference call control, moderation, and administration through an intuitive user interface.
Scopia Desktop extends a room system video application to PC and Mac users for voice, video and data collaboration – driven by a simple Web browser plug-in that is centrally managed, distributed and deployed. Westcon will also offer the award-winning Scopia Elite Series MCUs as well as Scopia room and customizable immersive telepresence systems featuring full HD 1080p video, 48 kHz full band audio and 1080p 60fps PC data sharing.
"Avaya is at the forefront of unified communications -- driving user-oriented, real-time collaboration on converged networks – all within the parameters of familiar workflow applications," said Karl Soderlund, Vice President, Americas Channel Sales, Avaya.  "Westcon's deep technical knowledge of Avaya products combined with its strong history of enabling our channel partners to deliver products to our customers make the addition of Scopia video conferencing to Westcon’s portfolio a natural fit."
As part of a comprehensive video offering, Westcon is expanding its premier GoldSeal support to now include Scopia products.  The GoldSeal program provides resellers with an opportunity to sell new products and services that include remote maintenance support – down to the end-user – without the expense of self-constructing support models.
Continued Bernard: "We're fully committed to promoting Scopia video.  Our inside sales team will even support Avaya resellers using the Scopia desktop and mobile video clients for our virtual, face-to-face interactions. Video collaboration via Avaya will become the common means to support our partners."
Westcon also plans to integrate Scopia video conferencing into the company’s LEAP (Learn, Experience, Architect, and Plan) “Centers of Excellence.”  These environments are designed to provide value-added resellers a facility for hands-on training, technology demonstration, and briefing center capabilities across a broad range of solutions targeted at next-generation, virtualized data centers.
