Avaya Lands World Cup Network Pact

12 Nov 2001
Avaya Inc. recently scored the contract to construct a converged voice and data network for next June's World Cup in Korea and Japan. The soccer tournament, held every four years, is one of the biggest sporting events in the world. Many of the telecommunications devices for the project are built in Avaya's offices in Concord, Mass., where the company's multiservice networking infrastructure group has about 500 employees. The group makes routers and wireless networking gear.
