Mohamad Ali is Senior Vice President and President, Avaya Global Services. Avaya is a leading global provider of business communications and collaboration applications, systems and services.
 
In this role, Mohamad leads the company's maintenance and managed services businesses, a division with approximately 8,000 employees around the globe. Avaya Global Services provides a full range of services, including planning, design, integration, product support and managed services that tie communications functionality to business strategies.
 
Mohamad joined Avaya two years ago as Senior Vice President of Corporate Development & Strategy. Since joining, Mohamad has been instrumental in bringing clarity and quality to Avaya's strategy process, guiding acquisitions and divestitures, and establishing key partner relationships. Under Mohamad's leadership, Avaya's research labs and emerging products teams have introduced an unprecedented level of innovation to the marketplace.
 
Before joining Avaya, Mohamad was Vice President of Business Development & Strategy for IBM's Information Management Division where he led and integrated several key acquisitions, including IBM's acquisition of Cognos Incorporated ($5 billion), FileNet Corporation ($1.6 billion) and Ascential Software ($1.1 billion). As IBM's senior state executive he was responsible for IBM's 5,000 employees in Massachusetts.
 
In addition, Mohamad served as Vice President of IBM's EDA software business unit, Vice President of the IBM’s Information Applications software business unit, Director of IBM’s Engineering & Technology Services hardware systems business, and Program Director of IBM’s GSM semiconductor business unit.
 
Prior to joining IBM, Mohamad held a series of software engineering and business development positions in companies including Adobe Systems and Neural Applications Corporation, an artificial-intelligence start-up.

Mohamad holds master's and bachelor's degrees in electrical engineering from Stanford University. He serves on the board of Ember Corporation, on the Leadership Council of Oxfam America, and as chairman of the Massachusetts Technology Leadership Council. He was named to Boston Business Journal's 2008 "40 Under 40" list. Mohamad enjoys running, skiing and making weekend breakfasts.
