Fari Ebrahimi

Senior Vice President & Chief Information Officer
Fari Ebrahimi is senior vice president and chief information officer and a member of the Executive Committee for Avaya, a global provider of business collaboration and communications solutions.

Fari has architected a three year global business transformation plan for Avaya which is being implemented now while leveraging the latest Avaya technologies to enable collaboration and communications.

Fari joined Avaya in February 2013 from Verizon Communications, where he was most recently senior vice president and CIO for Corporate Network and Technology which included Verizon’s Wireline network (including FiOS, global IP network, and cloud data centers) as well as Verizon Shared Services Operations (VSO).  VSO delivered over $3B in cumulative savings (2006 – 2011).  VSO’s shared services journey has been featured in Profit Magazine.

At the same time, he executed a plan to establish a single ERP per business group enabling common global processes within Verizon.  While deploying common goal processes, over 50 major system conversions completed enabled by a single global instance of SAP for Verizon Business with 49 countries and a single Oracle payroll system for over 220,000 employees based on a common cloud-enabled infrastructure. Over 1,500 legacy systems decommissioned.

Fari had a concurrent role as president of Verizon Information Technologies, a $120M software business. In 2009, Ebrahimi architected a novel approach for transition of local properties by establishing complete systems and network infrastructure to run operations independently. He executed the transition in the $8.6B sale of Verizon Wireline properties in 14 states to Frontier Communications in about 1 year deploying over 500 applications in 2 independent data centers.

From 2002-2006, Fari was Verizon’s SVP for Retail Customer Management, CRM & Billing. He architected and deployed an innovative business transformation model based on integrated CRM principles that creates a 360 view of all retail customer touches (via call centers, voice portal, Web), transactions, and history, which are stored in an enterprise data warehouse. As part of this approach, he migrated hundreds of call centers using legacy ACD technologies to fully redundant data center architecture leveraging latest Avaya CC & IP ACD technologies. In addition, he led the Retail Technology teams enabling Verizon to launch FiOS, Verizon’s state-of-the-art Fiber Optic Service.

Prior to that, Fari was Verizon’s SVP, Retail e-Business where he deployed the strategy that created a singular Verizon presence on the Web in 2001. The newly designed Verizon.com web site interfaces with all Verizon back office systems and allows customers to shop, order products and services, pay their bills and request repair online through self-service. Since its launch, self-service rate has increased from 0 to over 50% (for customer financial services, it has surpassed 90%).

Fari received his undergraduate and graduate degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Maryland.  Fari holds 11 patents as well as 15 patent applications in areas of operations workflow, structured messaging, and integrated contact management.

Fari is a member of the Oracle’s CIO advisory Board and HP’s Technology Advisory Board.
