The View from Pune: A picture is worth a thousand words
Today, the India Green Team is pleased to highlight the winners of its recent photo contest to celebrate World Environment Day. The winning entries are very beautiful, great job to my colleagues Sandeep Dinker, Kishore Das and Prabhu Keni for sharing their part of the world with the larger global Avaya community.
A picture is worth a thousand words
There's an old saying, "A picture is worth a thousand words." Recently, the Avaya India centers took the words to heart, demonstrating their commitment to nature and to Avaya's "Go Green" initiative. To commemorate World Environment Day, on June 5, a photo contest themed around the theme "nature" was introduced.
"Close to 200 submissions depicting flora and fauna, wild life, urban and rural shades were captured wonderfully by those who participated," said Sangeetha Raghuram, India volunteer council and Go Green lead. "The selection committee made up of employees who participate in India's Nature Club chose the three winning submissions. Congrats to Sandeep Dinker, Kishore Das and Prabhu Keni."
"We've been diligently putting our efforts towards creating a cleaner and greener environment," said Raghuram. "Our focus areas have been spent on energy, fuel and paper conservation. To that end, we've commissioned several awareness campaigns to help drive our messages across the company. Initiatives such as car pools, "100 minute power saver" and observing "No Print Day" have been received extremely well by employees. We're committed to doing more and to sharing our progress with our colleagues around the globe."
